WorldCom tipped to file for bankruptcy:
Sources close to the US telecom multinational WorldCom say the company is expected to file for bankruptcy as early as Monday.

WorldCom, which has about $190 billion in assets and transmits half the world's Internet traffic, is engulfed in a $7 billion accounting scandal.

If you really must have banners...

After sex and telcos, the next biggest money spinner on the Internet is banner advertising (at least, as far as I can see). They're a pain in the butt, right? You end up just blanking out a portion of the screen, in your mind, automatically.

However, the content provider is entitled to some income from your viewing of his site, even if it is just so he can give it to the telcos. So, this seems like a good idea: Burst offer a service that gives a site operator control over what is advertised on his site. The banners might even end up being interesting and desirable, just like Italian TV advertisements.
